Migrant Education
What Does the Migrant Education Program (MEP) provide?
Services provided by the MEP vary from district to district and are dependent upon the identified needs of the migrant children. All MEP students who attend a school that offers a Federal Lunch Program are automatically eligible for free school meals. In addition, all MEP students are eligible to receive free books and literature which belong to the children. Other services currently offered by the DGSD MEP include additional staff at Gerstle River School where the majority of MEP students reside and who demonstrate academic need and have been identified as Priority for Service (PFS).

Does your family depend on commercial fishing and/or subsistence fishing or food gathering to make ends meet economically? If the family did not take part in these activities would you likely be unable to feed your family or pay your bills?
Did you and your children migrate outside the boundaries of Delta/Greely School District away from your own home for more than 7 nights and 8 days?If you answered yes to these questions, your children may qualify for the migrant education program
